E-MU 0404!! DOES play DVD-Audio!!

I grabbed the latest version of PowerDVD Deluxe version. I put in one of my DVD-A discs that has DTS/DD and MLP tracks. Just for kicks, i clicked on the MLP track, and guess what, it played! If i do the same in windvd it hisses like playing back a DTS track on a DD-only decoder.

So then I stuck in the pure-MLP disc that comes with the Audigy 2 ZS. Which I can confirm DOES NOT play in my DTS-DD capable dvd-player. And it plays back great!

Please somebody confirm, I suspect it's the Creative drivers, this could be a huge plus for the E-MU cards.

Which disc did you use?

and whatever disc comes with the Audigy 2 ZS.

What really makes me think it is DVD-Audio is how it would _not_ be able to playback the Audigy2 ZS disc when I use my DD/DTS sony dvd-player, yet my dvd-audio disc with the MPP/DD/DTS tracks from AIX records plays fine, but hisses when I try select MLP from the main menu. Yet on the E-MU it's fine.

This is pretty sweet.

PowerDVD 6 will play all DVD-A discs, however it will resample them down to 16/48 when it detects that the disc is copy protected.

Oh well, at least I can still hear my dvd-audio content....

...

Almost any soundcard will play DVD-A with the correct player (PowerDVD and WinDVD both support DVD-A now); some will also output an un-molested bit-perfect signal (up to 96 or 192kHz depending on their capabilities) if the media itself doesn't restrict the digital output (most commercial studios implement this restriction).

There's players that won't downsample MLP audio with analog out?

Hi Erukian,

i recently wrote a post about listening DVD-Audio in 96khz with the EMU. I also wanted to listen in full quality with PowerDVD6 delux or another software player. But i got an answer: DVD-A listening is only possible in 48khz unless you have an audigy2 which is capable of hardwaredecoding the 96khz DVD-A sound. An EMU supporter also confirmed me that the EMU is not able to play copy protected content in 96khz. There aren't any software players which are able to decode 96khz DVD-A sound!

Yeah, but my AIX records that have PCM/MLP/DD/DTS have the PCM 2 channel at 24/96 which the e-mu does fine (just set patchmix to 96khz), and it's way better sounding than 16/44-48 they way that AIX records and master's their 24/96.
