Wadia WT2000 Transport & DA2000 DAC - Any good?

This current eBay listing is for a Wadia WT2000 Transport + Power Supply + DA2000 DAC, and it is starting out at a relatively low price (currently $459. with 4 days to go).

Any opinions or comments on how this combo measures up to other Wadia gear, or other high end sources?

Also, note that the transport isn't reading CD's now - laser replacement due, or just alignment. Any speculation on parts availability or qualified service stations?

Thanks for any feedback or comments.

laser replacements are all but impossible in the WT2000. That transport is around 15 years old. Replacement cost (with something more modern) is well below the Repair cost.

The 2000 DAC is still competetive with modern DACs. One word of caution: the 2000 has only one input and it is ST Glass. you'll most likely need a Wadia Digilink 30 (or something similar) that converts other connection standards into ST.

Thanks a bunch, jefemeister! I was hoping you'd see this and jump in with your expert knowledge.

Think I'll definitely give this one a pass.
