Amp "OVERLOAD"

This may not be entirely appropriate here, but I figured that you people could help. I have this JVC amp (RX-6030V) that displays "overload" and shuts the volume off. I'm using digital out from my computer's soundcard (nforce2). If I turn the volume up to a moderate level it displays overload. What could I be doing wrong? The only suggestion I've had is that my cables could be blown. I'm using some 12 g speakerwire I bought at London Drugs with monster cable brand bannana plug doohikies. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I would wonder about the impedance on your speakers vs what your amp is set up to handle. I assume that your amp is spec'd for 8 ohms and your speakers might be 4 ohms. If the impedance on the speakers is too low, too much might be flowing out of the amp causing the overload. Only other thing I can think of is an overheating type situation or a short/mis-wiring somewhere. Good luck.

I'm assuming you're getting sound. Is the sound level normal or is it lower than normal?

If it is lower than normal, check your plug. Your Monster plug might be shorting together.

If it is not lower than normal, then you might have a bad current sensing resistor. You might need to send it for service.
