Someone STOP me!

Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a gift for my girlfriend and am thinking about some speakers for her computers. I'm looking at a budget of <=$200. So far, it seems like Swans M200 2.0 is the unit to get and I'll probably throw in the Chaintech AV-710 to give proper quality budget input. Is there any reasons NOT to go with this? Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Swans M200 looks very elegant, good choice for a gift.

Or you can spend $20 on some logitech speakers, and spend the rest on roses and a fine dinner?

Unless your girlfreind appreciates hi-fi sound (or is impressed with your rig enough that she wants to listen to it often) I'd go with Unclewai's suggestion.

Try Fps 200m http://www.vonschweikert.com/fps_speaker.html They have the wow factor and the sound is quite good

buy her a diamond and then buy yourself a present-something audio.

She will love you more for it and if she tires of you and jets at least you will end up with something useful.

Hell, you could always play country western on the rig and cry along with the one singing man

Unless your girlfriend has looked you straight in the eye and told you that she loves computer speakers countless times....bad gift. Don't give her something you think she'd like just because you know *you* would like it. No offense but it really looks like a "oh you don't like it? Well I guess I can use it" type of gift which will get you in the dog house down the road.

Pretty much what Rick, and Tim said.

You can’t go wrong with:

A. Jewelry
B. Gift certificate to her favorite store, flowers, and chocolate, or candy.
C. I would say it, but I would certainly get banned.

Don't get the VR speakers unless your gf would like to have a subwoofer on her desk or would like to change the volume with her toes.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I did get her some cheapie speakers last year but they were unpowered and alas you can't hear anything out of them. I wasn't so much thinking so much about myself but it sure is true that speakers aren't exactly romantic. I guess I'll go with the cheapie speakers+others route. It's just that I hate to get low quality stuff !

You still can put that diamond on top of the cheap speakers.

Why get speakers for the girl? She can buy those on her own time anytime she wants. They have no meaning down the line. Maybe flowers, or something that is simple but has nice sentimental value will be better. But if you still want to go the speaker route...I just ordered a pair of Swans from newegg because I heard they sound great plus they just look great. If you want to spend less, look into the Klipsch Ultra 2.0, I've heard great things about them

Man, asking the folks here to "stop you" from buying gear is like a crack addict asking his dealer to help him quit the habit. That ain't happenin' my friend. Remember those cartoons with the little angel on one shoulder and the little devil on the other? Well, there ain't no angels here! Just a whole bunch of these fellas

and they all love to see you spend your money on gear .
