Hi-

I currently hace a 20 foot Cardas Headphone cable to use with my HD650's. Most times, I only need less than 10 feet, if I sit close to the audio rack. On these ocassions, I am swimming in cable. yet other time (relatively few), I might want to veg out on the couch and the extra footage is nice. Would I be better off with a shorter headphone cable and an extention cord (during those fewer times I need a longer length), or just stick with the longer cable?

Also, when I put the headphones away, how can I manage such a long length of cable, so it fits neatly where the headphones are stored?

These might strike you as simple or stupid questions, but they are issues for me as I am visually impaired.

it's a common problem. I decided to split the diff and use 15' version with my Senns. Even still I worry when friends come over that my cord will be stepped on.

I've been thinking of somekind of device that would spool up unsued headphone cord kind of like those fancy retractable dog leashes. Anyone know if there is such a thing?

edit: if you decide to go with a shorter cord, your's can be reterminated for a minimal charge. that may be more economical than selling it and buying another. Heck, you might even be able to have them convert a single 20' cord into two slightly-less-than-10' cords and sell off the spare?

Why not cut the cable in half and add the appropriate connectors. Less connectors in the signal path is always better. But the difference wont be night and day. Some time convenience is more important.
