M-audio LX4 2.1 system

hi all,

I've been browsing these forums for quite some while now, and after being very satisfied with my first purchase (a pair of ATH-A500's). In fact, I'm so satisfied with them that i can't listen to my old pc-speakers anymore; I'm now looking for a good speaker set.

Their main purpose is going to be music playback, and I'm willing to invest some money if this means that the system is going to last me for a while. The source will most likely be a pc (Chaintech Av-710, my second purchase after joining Head-Fi). But after I finish university and have more money i intend to upgrade the source into something more 'audiophile'.

I have considered several systems, among which are Logitech Z-2200's and Klipsch Promedia 2.1's, because to me these represented all in one relatively cheap solutions. But I am afraid these are going to be dissapointing after the ATH-A500's. Plus they are almost impossible to get here in the Netherlands (unless at ridiculous prices).

And then I came across the M-Audio LX4 2.1 system via another post on this forum. It seems like a perfect system to me, although a bit on the expensive side. Do you guys think that this system is wasted on a relatively cheap source component like AV-710? even taking into account that i intend to upgrade in the future?

Let me know what you think,

Jeroen

By the way, I think I am currently experiencing a well documented phenomonon on this forum; head-fi gets to you and your wallet

You've got to be kidding me, a reply on the allmighty Head-Fi forum that takes longer than a day? Is there seriously no one that has had experience with this set?

It's supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't heard it. I'd recommend you choose to get a T-Amp + bookshelf speaker setup. That would be much more satisfying (I was in your shoes like a month ago, and I chose this route).
