I ordered both a sik din and sendstation pocketdocks for my new SR-71 because I didnt know which one I would like better. I dont have a firewire on my computer, I use USB for my iPod. My question is can I cut that firewire cable off of the sik din so that its just the line out cable and nothing else? Or would that not be a good idea?

It's very small player, so I like it. I have Clip+ since Christmas and I'm very satisfied!

I've had this card for quite a while now, and I have to say its a really nice card - a huge step-up to my on-board motherboard's audio. At first I do have to admit, it didn't feel like the D1...

that'd be fine. u might want to find a way to insulate the wires properly as u dont want them to get shorted.

How would I insulate something like that? I would be cutting it off flush with the unit itself. I dont know how I would do that. Any suggestions from anyone who might have done this or heard from someone that did? Thanks alot.

Maybe a dab of some sort of rubber sealant? If you did it carefully you could even mask the fact that you performed a DIY job.

plumber's waterproof sealant/glue. dab a layer on where the firewire was cutoff. works like a charm.

Which Pocket Dock did you get? I've been meaning to add to the DIY Forum a good little mod. But it works best with the line out version of the PocketDock. You open it up, remove the 3.5mm female connector and Hard wire an extension cable to your liking and length.
Here is the final product. I will post some pictures for all you DIYers.

Hey, that's mine! I ordered this piece from Drew and is really looking forward to get it. Until a better solution comes up, I think that this is the ultimate line out-solution for the iPod.

Interesting, there was me just going to plug a moonaudio mini-to-mini into the dock, I could splice the end off and solder it directly in. May have to take a look at that myself

Yes it is yours and it is on the way with your modified KSC-35 headphones. Forgot to email you. I will send you a pic of the headphones to hold you over. Anyway the opening part is the hardest part. I have not quite mastered this yet. There are two interior posts that hold it together. I have to figure out the perfect way to open it. Once open simply unsolder the female mini connector. Make sure to remember or tag which pin is right, left and ground as the one I opened used the same color wire for each. Solder your wire, add hot glue for strain relief and close back up. I'm going to do a couple of more this wknd. I will post pics.
