SACD Cables?

I have a new SACD player that I would like to hook up to my receiver. It looks like I need 6 analog cables. Any recommendations for what kind of cables to get? I see "Monster" has a SACD cable set for $150. This seems a little expensive. I was thinking of using 2 sets of AV cables to save $$. What do others here use?

I hope I'm putting this in the right area of the forum. This isn't exactly headphone related, but I've read about SACD on a number of threads here.

Thanks for any insight.

Just use three pairs of standard audio cables (preferably all of the same brand so they all sound the same).

What price range cables do you want?

Well you made the right choice in not buying from Monster Cable.

Yes, we need to know a price... for a "who cares about cables" budget, just run to any store and get two pairs of A/V cable, or three pairs of Audio (W/R) cable.

Thanks for the input so far - my price range is about $50-$60 total. I'm surprised there aren't more "prepackaged" SACD cables available.

The Acoustic Research set at Best Buy is running $99. At this price I would opt for the recommended set at bluejeanscable.com @ $75. Lastly, you could start off with 3 pairs of Radio Shack Golds, at or under your price range and move up later - if you feel the need.

I agree that M*****r Cables are expensive for what you get. Much of their cables are mostly looks and little substance. There is a big, steaming puddle of snake oil dripping all over the cable industry - especially the easily-available "upgrade" cables.

For now, I'd use the very cheapest ones you can find (like probably $5 total for three stereo "patch cords"), then keep your eyes pealed on the Audiogon forum for used pairs of Cardas CrossLink. As long as you end up with three pairs, all factory-terminated, and all of the same length, you'll be just dandy!

I second Bluejeanscable. You can get a solid cable (much better than Monster cables) for a reasonable price.

stretch you budget a little bit now and you shouldn't have to worry about upgrading later.

the Zu Pil rca cable runs for $29 each and they should last you quite a while. look on ebay through their factory promotion and you could probably get it even cheaper.

man.... go to your local radioshack and get 6 standard RCA cables. this will cost u 20 bucks tops. u will hear no difference if the insulation is decent. save the extra money and buy more SACD's and DTS cd's. !!! people who buy 'monster' cables are soccer moms who get ripped off.
