HD595 owners....changing cable

Has anyone used other then stock cables for their HD 595? I want to know your experiences.

Does anyone know how to change the single sided cable? If I go back the dealer, I'm afraid they will only insist on the stock cable

I'm pretty sure. Headroom offers a Cardas cable upgrade service. There's aform at the bottom of the page.

Its single sided. Anyway Cardas doesn't make one. They recommended me to headroom but I'm not going to bother to order it. Might DIY

Have you looked at the pdf on senn site to change 595's cable ?

Heard a lot of 590/equinox but none of 595 yet. What area on 595 are you looking for improvement through aftermarket cables ? Just curious.

Decided to get the HD 650......I want a more involving sound. My HD 595 will still be in used no doubt....they rock on alot of things....see I'm going mad

Decided not to care about cable anymore untill I learn to DIY. I don't think it will be a big deal to my ears but I'll see.

I haven't seen any DIY hp cables before though

You meant locally or here in head-fi ? There are quite a lot of diy cable freaks here - at least I saw one thread full of pics.

I thought the hp cable and I/C are not the same. Dunno...still a beginner here. I'll stick to the stock cable meantime...don't wanna spoil the 2 brats

Be careful with these recable or you'll be soon flyinhigh !

Btw you might want to search and consult with highflyin9 for diy recables.

A long long time ago (about 2 years back) we did have an on-going thread for DiY upgrade cables for HD570/ 590 headphones. It's essentially the same as what you'd need for your 595's. Basically a cable with one end terminated with a 2.5mm stereo plug (sub-mini) and the other end terminated with either a 1/8" (3.5mm) or 1/4" (6.35mm) stereo plug.

Managed to find my first ever attempt to make an upgrade cable for my HD570's.

The sub-mini stereo plug. Note that the barrel was scrapped because there isn't a way to fit the barrel into the opening on the headphones. The Sennheiser plug is beside it.

The cable. It's a Canare L-2T2S. I've also tried the L-4E6C and Klotz SQ-422 Starquad. They all sound better than the stock, that's for sure. The Klotz was brighter than the Canare, which in turn offered a more lush sound.

I've thought the connector to the HD 595 was special.....

I'm using the Canare L4E6C as an I'C. And its quite cheap USD 5 per 1 metre. If assuming that it better then the stock cable, I wonder how cheap those stock cables are

It is. The connector on the 555 and 595 is a little 4-pin L-shape thingy.

Yup, not fair, 590 users have all the fun. They don't even have to worry about special senn plugs.
