Recommend me something Bose Wave Radio-ish

My father is considering a wave radio at 500 dollars. He wants something that is moderately portable and that sounds good. Since he is willing to spend 500 on a wave radio, I guess this would be my budget. Could I put something together with a SI t-amp that would have similar performace/portability?

Check out the Tivoli line of radios. The Model One(which I just picked up) is $100 and sounds excellent--a popular product. They also have a battery powered portable version and other variations. The design and build quality is superb. I dont know about use with the T-amp. If I recall correctly, the Bose(which I've heard a few times) can reach higher volumes, but the Tivoli sound certainly fills my medium sized studio.

You can't go wrong with any of these: http://www.tivoliaudio.com/home.php

The Model Two is quite nice for the price. It looks good too.

Please, try to convince your dad to say "NO" to "BLOSE"!

Tivoli are nice. very traditional looking, so i think adults would like the look. also IIRC, Cambridge makes some too.

I knew there would be something that I could convince him to get besides that. Thanks for the suggestions.

I like the tivolis, but this cambridge soundworks radio caught my eye. I read good reviews and they can be had on ebay for 249. Any thoughts?

I looked at that one, but i decided on the cambridge 740 because of rave sound quality reviews and low price. I got one for 249 on ebay. Thanks for all the help, guys... I have a feeling I'll be back soon to get something for myself.
