It seems that more and more the Stefan Audio Art Equinox HP Cable is being passed by for the Cardas and Zu. I have read tons of reviews signing the praises of this cable and would like to know your thoughts. It's cheaper than Zu and Cardas as well. The HP cable is still up in the air for me but would love some personal opinions on the Equinox. Cheers.

I really liked the equinox with the senn 600. Therefore, when I got my first pair of senn 650's I bought an equinox too. But I didnt like the equinox with the 650 and returned the cable. So speculating here...maybe the reason the equinox is falling out of favor is that this cable doesnt mate as well with the newer, more in vogue senn 650; as it did with the senn 600.

ServinginEquador and nanahachi seem pretty crazy about it with the 650's. I guess more people might buy Equinox cables if not for the INSANE lead time.

The waiting period is advertised as 5 months but may actually not be that long. I ordered three days ago to compare against my Blue Dragon, and they have promised a ship date of March 2. So the waiting period may only be on the order of 5 weeks not 20.
Maybe they have found a way to accelerate production. I would think having a long waiting period would impact sales in a very negative way and would dissuade all but the most ardent customers who specifically want to hear the Equinox.

I much prefer the Equinox to both the Zu and the Cardas (I sold the Cardas, returned the Zu, but kept the Equinox). I rate the Equinox and Blue Dragon as the best cables available (though I understand that some who prefer a bright sound would prefer the Zu). The Equinox has the closest sound to the stock cable, but with greater clarity, detail and smoothness.

The Equinox is also my favorite Senn aftermarket cable. In my opinion--
The Equinox sounds great with both the HD600 and 650 but mates slightly better with the HD600--the slightly thinner sound of the 600 pairs a little better with the slightly thicker and warmer sound of the Equinox. The HD650 is already a little on the thick and warm side to begin with (which is why I think that it is, more or less, a recabled HD600 with some thicker and warmer sounding internal wiring).
The Cardas and Oehlback both sound better with the HD600 to my ears. I don't like the way they sound with the HD650 at all. Both of these cables are very thick and slow sounding (not a bad thing, many love this type of sound) and so to not pair well with the HD650, IMO. Personally I'd also take the Oehlbach over the Cardas--I don't like the cartoony neutral character of the Cardas cable and I find the Oehlbach to be slightly more transparent sounding--a good thing since the Cardas is just too stuffy and slow to my ears. One of the reasons why the Cardas cable is so poplular is because many dealers carry it (because they also carry other Cardas products) unlike the Equinox which is sold only througth the Stephan Audio Art Website and TTVJ (AFAIK).
As for the Zu I didn't like it much with either phone.

I don't think that it is too bloaty but I am using it with Silver IC's upstream between my source and amp, so I am getting the detail.
I have not heard the Zu.
