I recieved my flat pads yesterday and they didnt have any slits on them, Todd is this normal? Other pics from flat pads purchased from your site and comments from other headfiers say that theirs have the slits,

Has the design changed since then? what are the benefits of having the slits? Is mine just a defective pair of flats?

Heres a pic

thanks for you time

what's odd is my pair of pads has slits on the flats AND the bowls. and usually bowls dont come with slits. and my slit bowls dont sound any better than normal bowls. so i dont think you're missing much.

, Im sad

it bothers me that I paid $35 for Grado style flats pads and and recieve a pair that look more similar to comfies with the quarter mod

from what I read here at head fi, I seem to be the only fella here that received the flat pads like this.

did I get a defective pair or something? or is this Todd's new style of $35 flats?

theyre supposed to look more like this right?

Hmm... I got a pair from the Grado dealer in town here and they don't look anything like that. They look like the RatShack versions... only thicker.

Hey, that looks really cool. I would rather prefer not having slits in them. The only benefit of slits I see is to prevent the pads from accidently getting ripped when you try to stretch and fit them onto the grados. Slits make them more flexible when you stretch or squeeze them. Unless you take them out frequently, I would actually be happy with the absence of slits since they feel more solid in their placement. Just be extra carefull when you take them out though.

I also recieved slitless flats from Todd, which I think are an improvement in comfort over the slitted ones FWIW.

you, sir, have Comfies. unfortunately, the worst pads imho. even cutting a hole in the middle isn't as good as, say, cutting a hole in the senn pads. i suggest you sell them and buy flats from Todd. just fyi you wont find real flats in any store, grado dealer or not - they dont make/sell them anymore.

I was under the impression that Todd had an exclusive on flat pads?

Why do you say that? Maybe there was a production run of flats without slits. I'd find it hard to believe that Todd would doctor a pair of comfies and sell them as flats.

Sh*t. Those are exactly what I got from the fancy audio shop here. I was told they were flats. I prefer the sound of the Radio Shack $3 ones compaired to these. Obviously they don't know what they're talking about or they don't know.

just sensing that theres alittle confusion here

i think jahn was referring to the ones that archosman bought at a grado dealer as being comfies

the ones owned by RnB180 and bought from todd look like flats and i doubt the slits make any difference

todd is great and the flats i bought from him work amazing, id try to drop him a line, he should know whats up about the slits the best

First, those are the flat pads not something else. Yes, I forgot to slit them. Maybe a call to me would have answered the question.

So here is the deal. Call me if you have the pads without slits and I will send out another pair to you. You can keep the pair you have as a souvenier of my mistake.

Make no mistake - I do not screw my customers nor do I intentionally send out something that is not right. You don't know me at all if this was your first thought...

So, I apologise for my mistake and intend to make it right for those who have the slitless pads. I also apologise for not responding immediately but I am also very busy making everything very cool for my upcoming show. I hope you all will consider coming.

And THIS is why everyone loves Todd. It's a tiny "mistake" that makes no real difference at all, and he's bending over backwards to make it perfect.

There are people that don't care, people that do care, and Todd. He's in a class of his own.
