i would like to keep my audigy 2 because i play alot of games. i really dont wanna get the emu 0404 cause its gonna be a pain to install with the audigy. and the menus are complicated.. (im a newbie) so im thinkin of getting a stereo receiver that will hook up to my audigy using a digital coax. do u guys think this is a good idea?

It's a good idea if you don't care about sound quality. You can't pass the Audigy any signal without having it resampled to 48khz with a poor algorithm, and 44.1khz resampled to 48khz already sounds worse, let alone with a bad algorithm.
I see....your future....an AV-710.
While it isn't external, it is:
bit-perfect
sweet DAC
<$30
My recommendation, there will be others.
