DIY Crossfeed Module that I can use with my cMoy?

Hi All

I've keep reading about crossfeed and I think I need to get some in my life!

Does anyone have any links to a "How To" DIY guide?

I'd like it to fit inside an Altoids tin if that's possible?

So iPod -> PocketDock Line Out -> cMoy -> Crossfeed -> Headphones ??

Oh, and the design must be able to fit onto standard project board (no fancy paterns! Just plain rows of coper with holes drilled in them... I'm in the UK remember!!! LOL)

Thanks in advance!!

there a two Versions ("high-Z" and "low-Z"), one to be put between source and amp (preferable) and the other between amp and cans

Go to the bottom of the page and the last three links deal with Crossfeed

Wow!! Thanks PinkFloyd...

I'll be off to Maplins tomorrow to get the bits!!! That looks easypeasy!

Do you think if I used 3.5mm sockets instead of RCA's it would still work?

MANY Thanks!

Yep it'll work. I made one with rca sockets and the other with 3.5mm fly leads.

Try an old Beatles track like Yesterday to get a real feel of the difference with/without crossfeed.

OK, I ordered most of the parts from Rapid Electronics today (they even talked me into buying a new multi-meter which was half price lol)...

The only things they didn't have were the 2k and 2k2 resistors, so I went to Maplins and bought some wire (Van Damme Microphone wire 2-core plus braid) and the resistors, except they didn't have any 2k resistors, so I got 4 1k resistors... I hope that won't affect the sound quality? They're big... 2w I think?

Anyway, I should have all the bits tomorrow night (if they Royal Mail do their thing!) so I'll get it made and I'll listen to "Yesterday" and let you know what I think!

Oh, I tried to get one of the 4 pole on-off-on switches from Maplins (I forgot to ask for one while on the phone to Rapid) but they were out of stock (and I was at the trade counter of their UK Distribution Centre Good one Maplins!

Well, it's made! (and in an Altoids tin!)

I had to use 2x 1k resistors to make the 2k resistors

The resistors are all 2w and are massive

The capacitors are all tiny...

This is the one Rapid sent me after I asked them for a 47nf cap:

... and the 220nf's are these:

http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/rk...7978&XPAGENO=1

Are these capacitors going to be any good?

The sound hasn't changed significantly for the worse or better imho... I'm not sure whether it's doing much or not... Should this be a "WOW THIS SOUNDS FAR BETTER" or should it just make listening to headphones for longer less tiring (therefore kind of subconcious)?

The 220nf's look pretty similar in size to the ones in PF's how-to guide, I'm just concerned that the 47nf is absolutely tiny in comparison to the one in the guide.

Should I try to get a larger 47nf cap??

Either way, I'm impressed that I haven't totally buggered up the sound quality! My DIY skills aren't anywere near as good as they should be!

both caps are MKS types, good, but MKP would be better: MKP 220nF @ RapidOnline

Ok, that's good to know that they're "good"...

I'll buy the "better" ones when I next order something from them (no point in spending £3.50 on postage on 3 capacitors!)

I've been listening to the setup all night now and I like it... Even with the Sennheisers (my Beyers won't arrive until monday/tuesday)

I really can't wait to hear my new cans with this lot!

Hi MrJoshua, I'd build one for my cMoy with 3.5" I/O. Could you please share picture of yours? Thanks beforehand.
