Well, it does have a line-out function. I think you are trying to say that the FiiO L3 should be included with the unit. However, since the L3 is only for people who want to bypass the internals of their iPod or iPhone, it makes sense that it is not included. After all, why would everyone who doesn't use an iPod or an iPhone want the added expense of that adapter added into the cost of the E17? It makes sense that adapter is sold separately because only some people are using those Apple products.

You are getting confused Stratocaster and I also don't think that is a good CON to post. The FiiO L7 was mentioned and is what is used to send a fixed or variable line out to another external amp.

Is the Fiio E17 better then the JdsLab C421? or on par?

Cons: no Line out jack to use just the DAC to another amp.

FiiO L7 is used to bypass the E17's and E7's internal amplifier's so to use the E17 with another amp as a dedicated DAC unit.
