Marantz HD- DAC1High Definition USB DAC / Headphone Amp

Clean sounding, well built, vintage looking DAC/AMP

Gamergtx260

Pros: Clean sound, Solid build and vintage looks, value for money, Apple friendly

Cons: Relay clicks too loud, Not too powerful to drive some high end orthos, No XLR connection

Hello Fellow Headfiers,   I own this DAC for atleast 7 months now and so I thought I would make a review cuz I'm planning to sell this :) (which I'll tell you why at the end of this review). I haven't wrote a review for a DAC/AMP so go easy on me.   Lets get started with the usual stuff. Build - If you have owned Marantz products before then you will really appreciate how the...

Yulong U100

Pros: Amazing value for money. Big step up from PC onboard sound. "Feels" like quality - nice stepped metal volume control.

Cons: "Yulong" sticker instead of etching on front panel. Not the prettiest piece of equipment.

“Chord Mojo Review Disclaimer Chord electronics has recruited me as a 'review captain' for Canada (I'm honoured) for the new Chord Mojo and provided a unit free of charge for review purposes. The unit will go on to other Canadian reviewers in the tour I'm organizing after I publish this review. This review is simply my opinion of the device and I am giving nothing less than my honest...” --x RELIC x

“I have been using the E17 "Alpen" every day for over a year now.  It is my go-to device for enjoying music at work, or anywhere other than my home office.  So, here are my thoughts:   Build quality   This was the first thing I noticed when I unboxed the device.  Brushed metal casing felt very durable, and after this past year of daily use, still looks almost new. ...” --prez

JDS Labs Assembled Objective2 Headphone Amplifier

JDS Labs Assembled Objective2 Headphone Amplifier

“     Without referring to "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's" (A.K.A. NwAvGuy) blog, and speaking from my own listening experiences, I really do think the Objective 2 is a great headphone amplifier. No, I don't think this is the amp to end all amps, but it's a dang good one and it only cost me $156 USD (which includes the Triad brand WAU12-200 AC adaptor). In fact, it can be found...” --miceblue

Aune X1S 32Bit/384KHz DSD DAC Headphone Amplifier

“ For larger images (1200 x 800) click the image   INTRODUCTION I’ve been aware of Aune for some time during my Head-Fi journey – particularly their T1 Tube DAC, and more recently the B1 portable amp which was recently featured on Head-Fi. But until now I’ve never had a chance to sample their gear, and indeed haven’t really taken much notice of their product line.  That changed...” --Brooko

Matrix M-Stage

Matrix M-Stage

“The M-stage HPA-1 was purchased by me from an eBay seller about a year ago for $180 including a class A biased OPA627 op amp. The HPA-1 was the first generation in the M-stage series and have since then been followed by the HPA-2 and the quite recently released HPA-3. The HPA-1 was released back in 2010 but I still think that it offers enough interesting features to be worthy of a review in...” --peter123

NuForce Icon HDP (High-end Headphone Amp, USB DAC, Preamp)

“ I purchased the Nuforce Icon HDP along with Sennheiser HD 650 headphones as my first desktop setup about six months ago. I'll start off by saying that the HDP has been a fantastic purchase that I am thrilled with and enthusiastically recommend, especially as a starter desktop setup.   The HDP has loads of power and easily drives my Sennheiser HD 650s and other high impedence...” --Sid-Fi

“ Sound: They expanded the soundstage a noticeable amount as well as instrument separation between the 2 channels. However, at first listen on the standard music app, i found the vocals to be a little muddy or low end heavy. Not enough treble to bring out the details of the instruments or the singer's voice. So I tried using it in conjunction with the EQu app and to my surprise i found it...” --Player1josh46
