Sennheiser PC151 Stereo Headset

Review - Sennheiser PC 151

viper0700

Pros: Solid build quality, Great bang-for-buck gaming headset

Cons: Muffled & overbearing bass, Rolled off treble

Introduction & Criteria I bought the Sennheiser PC 151 for gaming after my friends bugged me to join them on Team Speak. After looking at a couple of the available options online, including the possibility of setting up a separate mic, I went with my gut instinct to go with Sennheiser. Not much of a purchase justification but trialling headphones here in Australia is difficult to say the...

Razer Tiamat 2.2

Pros: EPIC BASS, Comfortable one-size-fits-all headband, noise cancelling, immersion++, great positional audio, wonderful for listening to music

Cons: may need a headphone amp to really make it bang, slight quality control issues (first pair had to be sent back (this is why there is -1/2 star))

“Just got these as an upgrade from my Philips SHG7980 headset. Straight out of the box, they sound great, no equalizer setting modification required. Just plug the headset and get immersed in movies and games. The bass is definitely what makes this headphone shine.   Club/rock/dubstep music: perfect with Asus Xonar DGX sound-card (dolby headphone: enabled) Gaming: best when used...” --b3roldan

Razer HP-1 Barracuda 8-Channel Gaming Headphones

Razer HP-1 Barracuda 8-Channel Gaming Headphones

“These are my everyday gaming and music cans for like 10 years now through two sets of them. The bass response is unparalleled with USB powered built-in amplification and a dedicated 40 mm subwoofer driver. I imagine to get the same bass you would have to buy another can with a dedicated bass driver, and some do exist from different makers, but no one did it as clean as the razer barracuda....” --indopler

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset (CA-9011115-NA)

Corsair Vengeance 2000 Wireless 7.1 Gaming Headset (CA-9011115-NA)

“Bought them on a whim without reading any reviews, after a few months the plastic above the hinges cracked on both sides. Read through the reviews on Amazon and Newegg, turns out this isn't uncommon. Ended up getting them RMA'd and sold them. If the headset can't even stay in one piece there is no reason to ever get it. Would not recommend. ” --DudeTheTree

SKULLCANDY SLYR Circumaural Headset

SKULLCANDY SLYR Circumaural Headset

“I bought these due to morbid curiosity; Skullcandy made a gaming headset? I figured I try them out because I was getting tired of my X12s, which had replaced my X11s. The SLYRs have now replaced my X12s. One fact to know about these headphones are that they were mostly designed by Astro Gaming, as Skullcandy bought them. This changes everything The sound quality is astounding and...” --Koenigseggfire

“ Compared to the ATH-AD700, these are a joke. Don't get me wrong, these aren't that bad. But you can find better gaming headphones for 100 bucks. The bass is there, but its barely there (cant hear it nor feel it). I don't listen at high volumes but there's a lot of distortion when you crank the volume up. The surround sound is decent, but not the best. Although i dont care much about...” --xkonfuzed

Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma USB Gaming Headset

Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma USB Gaming Headset

“ No other headphone has surprised me in the manner that the Tactic 3D managed to.    I originally purchased them because I needed headphones to do a Skype interview, and I wanted something kind of ridiculous and flashy, because I was going to be on video. The Tactic 3D seem like a perfect choice, with flashing LEDs on each ear cup.   When I first hooked it up, I...” --imagic

SteelSeries 7H USB Gaming Headset with Virtual Surround 7.1 Sound (Black)

“ I'm surprised I don't already see a review for the SteelSeries 7H on here. I'm really satisfied with them, and I wanted to at least put a little positive spin on them.   They came with both soft & fake-leather ear-pads. The microphone works well. They can be disassembled making them easily portable. They work on both my mac and pc.   I want to keep this sort, but they...” --n0rvig

“ its good if you only want to use for game audio and not game chat. I like it myself i use it for xbox 360, but is also compatible with pc for pc gaming. I believe they can work for ps3 but are not chat compatible and that is because they have to be plugged in to a xbox 360 controller in order to use game chat on xbox 360, but does not apply to pc that's just how voip works on a xbox 360.
