FiiO E09K

Tons of power for 600ohm cans- sounds great at high levels of volume to mid levels of volume

A review on: FiiO E09K
Chuck Canada

Pros: Tons of power, cheapish price, seriously well built,

Cons: A personal con- could be the sound card I use but I think it is the amp, needs to be turned up a tad louder then I would like when listening to VOIP

I have been using a E09K to power my DT990 600ohm cans for over two years now, long enough that I don't really remember exactly when I got it but for sure over two years.  I use this thing every single day for hours each day because it is part of what I use for my work.  It literally could blow my 600ohm cans if I pushed it loud enough I'm pretty sure, I never ever go above half...

iFi iCAN headphone amplifier

Pros: Versatility from IEMs to Planars, excellent body to the sound, XBass and 3D switches, quality fun sound with authority

Cons: sound could be more opened and airy, hiss at some worse quality recordings

JDS Labs Assembled Objective2 Headphone Amplifier

“     Without referring to "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's" (A.K.A. NwAvGuy) blog, and speaking from my own listening experiences, I really do think the Objective 2 is a great headphone amplifier. No, I don't think this is the amp to end all amps, but it's a dang good one and it only cost me $156 USD (which includes the Triad brand WAU12-200 AC adaptor). In fact, it can be found...” --miceblue

“ I do not have much experience with many gears, but here is the short story of an amateur in the hobby, how he get to the Micro iCan.   I used Fiio X3 first gen. to listen to music with a Schiit Vali. (And HD600) I liked the line out of the X3, as it was much cleaner, more detailed superior sound over the headphone out. However I used the headphone out sometimes if needed some...” --bestula

“ WASAPI----->Bitmatched/Perfect transport----->Maverick D1 RCA SS output------>Matrix M-Stage(Stock)----->AKG K-702   I use these with my AKG K702 headphones and there really isn't much to say.  My previous amp had no problem powering these bad boys either but it hissed and popped at the volumes necessary to do so.  With the dip switch on the bottom controlling level of gain...” --ninjikiran

Schiit Valhalla

“   REVIEW – Schiit Audio Valhalla Tube Headphone Amplifier     What Sort of Schiit is This?   I read, as did many of you, the head-fi threads about the very popular and attractively priced Schiit Asgard.  But to be quite candid, I personally had about as much interest in an inexpensive solid-state headphone amp as I did in weeding behind my garage.  As such, I have never heard the...” --Skylab

Schiit Asgard Headphone Amplifier

“I've been reading so many replies and reviews how the O2, Magni and Vali sound the same. After weeks of listening to all of them, (yes I have them all) they are all not exactly the same . I've been using the same music and all else in the system is the same and have only changed the amps. Started with O2, then went to Magni. Yes the Magni and O2 sound very close. The Magni...” --Hi-Fi'er

Apex High-Fi Audio Peak and Volcano

“ I actually decided to buy the Apex Peak/Volcano, I do not regret purchasing this amplifier even though a loaner program was available for sometime, although I don't know if it was still going on when I bought the amp.   For headphones I have the Audez'e LCD-2 and Ultrasone Edition 10.  I only used the ED10 very briefly as I actually prefer the sound of the LCD-2 to the ED10s. ...” --Wedge

“ Me: I am a 21 year old student living in a small town in India. I would like to call myself a music enthusiast, rather than an audiophile. I was inspired by music since childhood, and as the time passed, the passion of music grew in me, and that subsequently led me to join Head-Fi. Eventually, I found the pleasure of listening to music mainly by the HD600 and recently, by the seductive...” --YoYo JoKeR

“ REVIEW: Meier Audio Corda Classic solid state headphone amp.   Introduction   My first serious headphone amp was the Meier Audio Corda HA-2 Mk II.  It was something of a revelation to me at the time – I had never heard a headphone amp that sounded as good.  I didn’t have much experience with headphone amps back then, and the HA-2 mk II was a huge cut above anything...” --Skylab

Little Dot I+

Little Dot I+

“The I+ from Little Dot is an excellent tube hybrid that offers much more than its sub-$150 price tag would suggest.   This is the first piece of head-fi equipment that I've owned twice. Bought one from a fellow Alabamian head-fier a couple months ago and had it for a little more than a month before deciding to sell as my "best" pair of cans weren't benefitting as much from amping. “ Don't be mistaken this amp has a fantastic value for the money. If you need lots of power and speaker taps don't look further take this one. The only thing I regret is that the volume knob can do a harsh sound when you turn it to rapidly. ” --Puranti
