Pros: Durable, Not-Too-Steep V-curve

Cons: Price Hikes, Clamping Force, Not Great For Production

These, thanks to Head-Fi, were my first audiophile-grade cans. After getting more and more into the world of headphones and getting perspective, I can go back and view these without being a first-time fanboy.

I still use the M50s regularly as a portable can with my CMoyBB, and it works great. While not exceptional at the $150 I paid for it, it's still a fun V-shaped sound-sig can that I enjoy keeping around.

I have to agree here. I was a monster M50 fan before I joined Head-Fi, but it was tempered after I heard more and more headphones. I still think they're a solid buy at $120, but definitely not the $150-160 price they've reached after the price hikes.
If I went back and did it again, I'd probably had ended up getting the FA-003 that's in the mail to me right now, or perhaps the HD-25 II. I wasn't exactly thrilled about advertising Adidas all over my head at the time, nor was I going to be happy with a bland looking non-Adidas version. Oh, how I have learned since then...
