Pros: CAPACITY, the UI is nice and the album slideshow is awesome, battery life is good,

Cons: Not solid state (this capacity in ss would cost $300 more), Apple does not have FLAC support

There really isn't a whole lot to say. This player will hold a s*!t-load of music and/or movies and/or pictures, but I only use it for music. The hard disk is a little loud at times and it lags somewhat as well, but at 160 gb they couldn't have put solid state drives in yet.

rockbox does not work on ipod classics past 5.5g i believe, but by all means feel free to correct and show a source.

You have to install emcore (emBIOS before) first to enable rockbox, here's the link from freemyipod.org:

It worked for me, it's gotten stable now with options up to the 7th gen 160GB

Rockbox really isn't worth the big chance of bricking my ipod, your suggestion is appreciated though.

Or alternatively convert your FLAC to ALAC and iTunes and your iPod will play them without issue

My only problem now is that iTunes Match keeps replacing the ALAC i put on my iPhone with ****ty AAC from the itunes store via the cloud -.- anyone know of a work around for this
