discretesound, though it looks like anodized aluminum, my understanding is that the outside of the earcup is made of a premium plastic reinforced with glass fiber.

ahhh..is the plastic quality the same as HD800?

It seems like a very high quality plastic to me, but I don't know if it's the same plastic as that used in the HD 800.
