Pre-production sample Denon AH-D7100 Artisan with its included zippered ballistic nylon carrying case. (Those big circles on the case are flash artifacts that I didn't notice until later.)
@Anathallo, for me, this works. If the headphone is durable enough to be carried in a bag, I'll use a bag. I carry my Sennheiser HD 800 and beyerdynamic T 5 p (and many other headphones) in 2.5-gallon Ziploc bags (which are shoved into stuffed backpacks and duffel bags, as needed). Space is almost always at a premium for me, so big boxes and large hard-side cases are things I try to avoid when I can. That said, I can completely understand the desire for (and the appeal of) box-type and hard-side cases.
@jude - I understand where you're coming from - you're not limited by the shape of the box. Still, some extra thought for the money would've been appreciated. Maybe 2 cases. Maybe something formed to the shape of the headphones if space was the issue.... Something worth the kilobuck you're sacrificing.
