Our Grado Leather Headband is airmailed in an envelope with bubble wrap. When received, take the headband out from between the bubble wrap. The first thing we would want to do is to identify the top and bottom of the headband.

There are two sides to the headband, one which is hard will serve as the top of the headband and the one which has cushioning is the bottom. Once you have figured out the top and bottom, curve the headband as shown gently and slowly to avoid sharp creases in the material underneath. Slowly ease the headband to a half-circle from the top to the tips of the headband. The purpose of this step is to ease the insertion of the metal band as it follows the shape of it. This helps to work in the leather and support material inside the headband.

The final outcome of shaping the headband will resemble the arch of the headband. Do not forget to shape the ends of the headband as this is crucial.

You can choose either the âLâ or âRâ block to be separated from the metal band. Hold the block with one hand and the metal band with the other as shown. Twist the band up and down until you hear a cracking noise which is caused by the superglue bond breaking. Next, firmly pull the block and metal band apart.

The block is now off.

Slide the stock vinyl headband off the metal band.

Insert the metal band into your new headband. The fit is tight to make sure the headband does not run. The metal band will not break so you just have to push hard and make sure the headband is shaped well beforehand. IMPORTANT : Push and shape the headband according to the curve of the metal band this is a must as the metal band is sharp and one does not want it to puncture the cardboard and cushion underneath. As you push it in, be sure to curve the part which does not have the metal band inserted yet to the arch of the metal band, this will avoid possible snags. Be gentle but firm during this process. Just push very hard and the headband will go through.
