Phillips has a history of making good transports, in fact many of the uber high-end transports use modified Phillips parts. i.e. The Metronome Technologie Kalista which very well could be the best CD transport out there. 6moons audio...
Those Darth Beyer's sure are purty, but I think that the condition of my wallet is going to limit me to the D2000. Moving on.... Un-modded the 700 seems to have a little bit better bass. Not necessarily more, just a little bit better...
BTW thanks for the advice Rex. I think I will have to upgrade pretty soon as these are my main phones and get about 4-6 hours a day can't complain about the sq but they aren't very comfortable on my head. Anybody got any suggestions...

Has anybody ever compared the 700's side by side with AH-D2000s I've been thinkin' about pickin' me up some of those. Heard some pretty good things about them, could be a nice step up in the closed cans arena.

Ummm. Well the 700's are great cans, and I don't regret buying them for a minute... but I only paid $35 shipped for mine. Looking back I don't think I would spend $90 on them mostly because they make my ears incredibly hot and that can...
