Would be great to get my hands on a pair of these to try, but with Christmas over and the bank a tad bit lower than what it was before, these will have to wait...

Personally i believe these to be contemporary-styled mid-ranged, if you will, headphones to the "closed" range that audio-technica offers.
There aren't many option below the w5000...
