dolby headphone works exceptionally well.  It gives 3d sound positioning and sound depth perception... a very speaker like presentation with the added detail of headphones.  The difference is huge for me when playing games with dolby headphone and with just plain stereo.  But keep in mind that dolby headphone is DSP, and therefore some people do not fit well with dolby headphone due to their ear canal shape and other ear factors.  But when dolby headphone does work, it...
i really need to try some k702's with dolby headphone.  I have 2 reservations though:   1) i bought the k601's for gaming because they were supposed to be better then the 701's for gaming.  And they were great... but i liked the dt880's all around better- more game immersion.  Plus i do not have whatsoever any 4-7 oclock sound blind spot with the dt880's.  The only negative thing about them is slightly recessed mids compared to the k601's.  So it makes me wonder if...
While i've never tried the k701/2's, i've heard a lot of praise about them for competitive fps gaming.  This is the main form of gaming that i enjoy.  I've owned and tried the k601's, dt770 pros, dt880 2005's, hd595's and ultrasone hfi 780's with Dolby Headphone for the main purpose of competitive fps gaming.  The worst of the bunch was the ultrasone 780's.  They had great detail and bass impact, but horrible soundstage- i could not judge distance at all.  And they were...
I've heard that from a few people about the dt880's.  Fortunately i get no 'blind spot' with them, combined with DH.
In my experience the best option for headphones for gaming and movie's is open and with dolby headphone dsp.  Closed headphones, the one's i've owned, sound less life like and canned then open headphones.  And adding dolby headphone opens up the sound field considerably more.  I'd highly recommend getting a pair of dt880 2005's or the k702's, along with the wireless version of the mixamp.
I'd have to go with the k702's and the dt880's.  Both different but both are great and comfortable for gaming.  And combined with dolby headphone dsp, they shine even more.
I've tried it. Used a vhp-2 desktop amp with the mixamp. Just connect the portable amp to the 3.5mm headphone jack of the mixamp. There doesn't seem to be any problems with this, but there could be some issues with Dolby Headphone being processed with the extra amp.

I have the A900s and although they sound pretty good with dolby headphone, I was wondering if HFI 780 would sound any better with dolby headphone in terms of sounding closer to speakers. FYI, the hfi 780's are the WORST audiophile headphones that i've used...

Although I've never used audiophile headphones, I don't really feel any soundstage with the DT880s. I...
