The DT770, and especially the HFi780, are horrible suggestions if you want accurate sound.   The DT770 has bloated, slow bass.  The HFi780 has earbud-like (in quality) overexaggerated highs, and crappy, thumpy bass.
Make that Koss KSC-75 for portable (or when I don't want to mess with full size headphones), Stax SR-202 w/SRM-252II for reference.  Wow, the Stax is SO much better than the LCD-2s (LCD-2s better for heavy bass stuff, I...
Well, I'm back to using the KSC-75s.   The LCD-2s just do not have enough treble, and I enjoy the KSC-75s considerably more.  I'm keeping the LCD-2s, as I've done with all the headphones I've ever owned (except the...
I'm now using Ubuntu (a Linux distribution) on my laptop, and dual-booting with Windows 7 on my desktop.  The sound system works properly (unlike Vista and Windows 7), not doing any sort of dynamics compression.  The LCD-2s...

Well, I was gone from this site for a couple of years, checked in again about a month ago to see what was new, and this thread caught my eye.   ...I've just ordered the LCD-2s.  At least I won't have to pay all of it at...
As the thread title says, I made this thread for those of us who have been around for a while to give advice to those new to the hobby. I doubt that any of my advice is going to be repeated that much, if at all. I think I'm right,...
My current favorite dynamic setup is this: Cowon S9 (with tons of DSPs [each of which you can set the amount of] enabled) to FiiO E5 to Sennheiser HD-650. There is no need to buy an expensive ($300+) amp when you have tons of quality...
