Would something like say this - http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-Stereo-design-accomodates-smartphone/dp/B004LTEUDO/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352693494&sr=1-4&keywords=monster+3.5mm+cable    be any less effective than buying a replacement cable for a higher end headphone such as something like this - http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/headphones/noise_cancelling_headphones/accessories/qc15_audiocable_acc.jsp&color=bl   Or am I going to...
So I picked up a pair of the ATH M50 with the removable cable mod, I'll be using them exclusively for portability headphones while using a better rig at home.   That being said, the detachable cord that comes with it is still 11 feet long, being rather new to the audiophile community, where can I get a decent replacement cable to plug into the jack that's say maybe 3 - 5 feet long. Preferably decent looking, any recommendations? I don't know how the cord affects...
I could honestly probably swing the DT 880 250ohms with an amp as well. The only problem is I'm kind of scared about the non-detatchable cord. That's how my last two pairs of headphones went. I just couldn't make up for the bass end as easily with that price.   I suppose it's down to the DT 880s, 770s, or the srh840s at this point.
Originally I've come to seek guidance on my first pair of entry level audiophile headphones. I've yet to make a purchase, but with the budget I've set for myself I've decided I was going to buy the Shure Srh 840's with a portable amplifier, and then later on purchase something with a bit more bass to it such as the XB700's or Q40s just for funsies.   However, my budget has now opened up a little bit to allow for a little bit of more leniency in my choices. Problem...
Do either the Ultrasone 580s or the Srh840s require an amplifier to be enjoyable? I'm planning on picking one up but it'll most likely have to be at a later date.
I suppose it would've been wise for me to clarify that in the occasion that I'd take them to the gym would be strictly for resistance training, obviously not cardio. I wouldn't be jumping around and what not just lifting.   Still researching... I wish more than anything I could test a few pairs before I made a purchase.
The SRH840s are actually what I'm leaning towards right now after doing the research on a lot of the models mentioned in this thread, as well as looking at other headphones that were compared to them. The sound signature seems to be more of what I'm looking for.   I've checked out the HD25s, problem is I'm not really too fond of the smaller build headphones I'd definitely rather the "over the ear" feel than the "on the ear" feel. Mobility would be nice, but It's not...
Yeah, I mean I have some IEMS as well specifically for cardio. Sometimes when I'm lifting I just get sick of having them in my ear. I forgot to mention I do a lot of work on the computer as well, which in most I'm listening to music while doing so. That's the main reason I'm looking for full-sized phones.
Firstly, I'm not looking for donations, just advice.   - Budget of $200. - Closed back are preferable for what I'd be using them for. - This is my first venture into a decent pair of cans.   I've obviously heard about the ATH-M50s due to the rave and have considered those as a possibility, but I'm not positive if they're what I'm looking for yet. I have a relatively broad range of music styles I listen to, and that's what's really getting me with making a...
