I had an unfortunate accident involving water with my FIIO 07K, and that little unexpected demise caused me to hunt around for a new portable amp. I became intrigued with the Nano, and purchased it from Amazon. Alas, the experience was pretty much entirely negative. I like this little amp, and thought it sounded pretty nice through both my open and closed cans. However, within minutes of using it, it began to throw horrendous RF noise at random times. It didn't take me...
I think it's close. I use these phones every day, and I am still very impressed...they have that closed vibe in the way they feel isolated, but there is definitely a very wide (for closed cans) soundstage.I find them a bit hard to describe, because they have aspects of both, in a good way. If circumstances dictate I need to used closed phones, these are the ones I use, without exception. I still love them, and I have a hard time believing you can get a better closed can...
I agree. Three weeks with 7xxx...and for me, it blows away the 598s. Which I LOVED until the K7xx.The Ks have a wider soundstage, punchier bass, more detail than the 598s...and the mids. Oh the mids! I never thought of them as muddled on the 598s....but on the K7, the mids expand and reveal detail that is truly mush in those frequencies on the 598s. Some quick a/b tests with both phones were shocking.I'm using the Ks through a FIIO E07, and they sound fabulous. (They also...
I burned mine in for a couple hundred hours...and found the sound profile barely changed. They sounded awesome out of the box. They require less burn-in than any cans I've owned so far.
Totally agree. My E07K makes a huge difference in the sound. And despite hours and months of daily use, I've noticed no cracking or physical issues. I still think these are the most amazing closed cans you can buy sub-500 bucks.
I know what you mean and I've noticed it too. Doesn't bother me...even doing stuff around the house, unless I actually bump the ear cups i don't hear it. Personally I believe it's a normal function of the really strong seal they make (which to be clear is a major reason why these sound so amazing). I have noticed varying degrees of this transfer of vibrations on ALL closed cans I've used. The better the seal, the more vibration/bump noise you'll get. I think of this as an...
Well I'm pleased to report that after five days the clamipng pressure seems to have eased up a bit, just enough to move it from noticeable to not really. You can still feel a solid seal from the pressure...i suspect this almost-pressurized seal you get with these things contributes to its amazing sound. But it's not something that is cutting into my listening enjoyment. (Though my 598s feel almost comically light now!) Either that or i'm just getting used to it, but i'm...
Dude i am a huge Television fan! Seen them several times and worship Marquee Moon. (I will give it a spin, thanks for the reminder!) I listen to a lot of metal and prog (and the intersection of the two). Through the PSB's I've been spinning a variety of stuff...Opeth, Floyd, Super Furry Animals, Pallas, Pineapple Thief, Tull, Dream Theater, Kansas, Hawkwind, Nine Inch Nails, Deftones....everything sounds amazing so far. Again, the equal, or nearly, of my HD 598s, which...
Yeah i wouldn't characterize the construction as poor per se...just that they are heavy and clampy for those of us with big heads. (i haven't heard any kind of cracking in the band when i use them so i must not be stressing them as much as some folks are). I did feel like yesterday the pressure was either eased up a bit, or i'm getting used to them. Overall they feel well built to me. I had this whole conversation with my wife last night to the tune of "i cannot BELIEVE...
I will need more time with them (and time to write) in order to give a full review, but i spent a few hours with them yesterday. Holy crap. A. yes ,they sound smashing right out of the box. (so much so that i find it hard to imagine how much more they could improve from burn in.) B. wow, they sound better, far better than any closed can i've used yet. They sound almost as good as my HD 598's, and the soundstage seems almost as wide. Which is just impossible to believe. But...
