agreed that the M50 sounds better but I think you compare apples with oranges there. A vastly different setup between the 2. As a stand alone the ZX-600 is actually a fun headphone. ironically I personally think it sounds better than it's big brother the V55. ZX-600 have that v shaped eq (which i quite like) but the bass isn't as boomy and overwhelming as the V55. Soundwise the zx is not muddy but the sound isn't too forward. It's clear enough to enjoy the music...
Well as it turns out I have taken the AT's back. Midrange too much for my ears. Thoroughly enjoying the 840's though. A reasonable set that does the job with a minimum of fuss and I can see why those owners on here appreciate them so much. Only gripe is the heavy headband - after about an hour it places a bit of pressure on the top of my head.
