Pretty sure it was a couple of bad rips. I've been comparing different songs played from different sources and amps, and comparing the 4r to the HD650. Aside from the sound stage and signature differences, it is coming out the same so far. I just picked mine up from Amazon for $380.
I'm going to keep checking on them. The static came through on my HD650s to on the same songs, so I want to be sure before I start putting in return requests.   As a side thought, has anyone reshelled their 4r's recently? I really like the idea of it, but I have heard from different people that the sound signature changes after the reshell. None of the ones I heard about weren't Westones, so I jsut want to get some opinions before I start looking into it.
Plugged directly into my phone, and with the adapter to both soundcard and amp. I was praying it wasn't defective. The only worse than waiting for package arrival is waiting for it a second time. Damn you cruel fate! Which would be better/quicker? Going through westone directly, or going back through amazon?
I just got my 4r's from Amazon today, and am loving them so far. I just have one question. Is it normal to hear some static on vocals when they're brand new? I started out with some mp3s on my phone, and chalked the static up to 128k mp3s. I tried them on my computer when I got home with flac files, both 16 and 24 bit, and was still getting it. Aside from the static, they sound great. My phone is an HTC evo 4g lte, and my computer has an Asus essence stx and a schiit...
That's the hardest part of making a decision between ciem vs uiem, single vs dual vs triple based on opinions of others. The best way I've found is to read multiple reviews about a pair, and if you read the same thing in all of them, it's more than likely true. The thing that really made me wonder was reading through the iem mega review. Out of 307 iem's, one of the top pairs was a single armature $269 Custom Art Music Ones. Single armature custom that is cheaper than a...
I have been doing reading on iem, and have seen numerous threads about reshells of universal iem's. Is there an advantage to buying universal to reshell vs a custom? I am trying to make a decision between a triple.fi 10 vs westone 4r vs westone um3x, and see that the price of them with a reshell would still fall short of a UE7 Pro for example. Are customs that much better, or is there a bang for your buck factor in reshells?
With Wasapi enabled, jriver won't run an audio stream at all. I just get an error message. I tried the full combination of things between Wasapi (with and without event style), asio, exclusive access setting, enabled and disabled secondary audio devices, and I'm still getting the same thing. My only guess at this point is either driver first come first serve and/or different the sample rate of the first thing playing not allowing a stream with a different sample rate to...
I have to stop it completely to have another audio stream go. The outlook notification sound actually stopped the audio from the movie I'm watching when the head-fi thread update email came in. I'm just trying to find out if there's a way I can not run into these conflicts every time.
I'm having issues with only being able to run one audio stream at a time. I'm currently running Windows 7->Essence stx toslink out->Schiit Bifrost->Bottlehead Crack->Sennheiser HD650. Before I got the Bifrost, when I was running rca out from the stx, I could pause a movie in jriver to watch a youtube video without issue. Now, I have to completely close out jriver before youtube will play. Or close the youtube tab to play music in jriver. I'm guessing it's either a sampling...
I reversed the cables and it stayed on the left side. Tried left channel on the right driver with nothing connected on the left driver, and the sound was clear. Then I tried connecting the right channel to the left driver with nothing on the right side, and it was back. So I'm pretty sure that rules out the source.
