Would you say that they respond well to an EQ for a bass boost for those times I listen to Hip-Hop or watch movies with them? Or would you recommend buying an amp such as the FiiO E11?
I've been looking for a set of new headphones and the M-80s fit perfectly into what I'm looking for - portable, sharp looks, accessories, detachable cable, build quality, phenomenal sound... however I want them to be fun sounding, and looking at reviews I have only seen the word "fun" been used to describe the sound signature only a few times. How do these compare to the Miles Davis Tributes - as I love the sound of those but it's quite difficult for me to retain a good...
You seem to have a bias against the M50... I have heard both, felt both, and worn both, and yes, while I do agree the HFI-580s are the better set, I think the M50s are very close and not as bad as you make them out to be. It is what I'd like to call a safe pair of headphones, typical "fun" V-shaped sound signature. The HFI 580s can be too bright in some cases - the treble is sometimes too harsh - I prefer the M50s in this department, smooth and clear. I do agree that the...
I wouldn't say it is an "overall inferior" set of headphones. I feel the treble on the M50s are more "polite" than the HFI-580s, and that can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you are listening too. The M50s seem to be more of a basshead headphone, as there is more quantity and it is boomier, but I prefer the HFI 580s as it is more controlled while still maintaining a good amount of bass. I also feel the M50s also have a slightly better build quality. While...
I wanted to purchase a pair of V-Moda M80s and a FiiO E6, but I have been reading that since the M80s are a very sensitive pair of headphones, an amp would not benefit much. The source would either be from my desktop or my iPhone 4. It seems to be a popular combination, so hopefully I can get some insight on this :) Thanks.
There is an ATH M50S, which come with a straight, uncoiled cable. It's still undetachable and rather long, though. Although the M50s have a very good bass response, but in terms of a huge quantity of a bass, you'd look better in its brother, the ATH PRO700MK2, or the Sony XB500/700.   EDIT: Also, you can find that a small, portable amplifier (FiiO E6 or E11 recommended) will not only increase the quality and volume, but they have high quality equalizer settings that...
I want a portable headphone amplifier, but I also want the ability to use the volume control and the button functionality and the ability to use the mic to make phone calls while still plugged into the amp. Any suggestions? Thanks.
On Amazon they are selling SMS Audio's Street by 50 for approximately $140, down from the $299 retail price. Even at this price, I know I can get significantly better sound, but I already own a few high end headphones that I use at home. I'm looking for a full size headphone to bring outside that adds to my style, instead of detracting from it (yes, I'm young and I'm vain, haha), and for a fun sound signature. I'm not going to blow $300 on the Beats, but $140 for the...
Heads up: another coupon I found (and used) was news10off2011, a 10% off all items in the Outlet store, expires at the end of 2012. Although the Tributes are not refurbished, they ARE in the outlet store, and this worked for me, which brought my order to a total of $134.95. I think that is basically stealing.
