Oh, and I found a new review at:   http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2406182,00.asp   Hal
HI, I'm sure there are newer threads for the Sennheiser RS220 now, but I've posted here before, so:   I went to a shop in Portland, Oregon called 32 Ohm Audio and demoed a number of high-end wired headphones.   This will undoubtedly get me burned at the stake, but I didn't hear enough of a compelling difference to make me want to upgrade from the RS220!   I did like the sound (flavor? timbre? specific quality?) of the higher-end one of the midrange...
GiacomoHoldini, You sir are a posting monster! I do hope you're gonna be able to get a pair of these soon after all your commentary. I see you're in Portland; I'm actually down in Corvallis (Oregon, USA.) For all those suffering with dropouts, etc., my sympathies. I wonder if there might be a way to cruft up something along the lines of a tin can wifi antenna. Perhaps a metal mesh strainer or colander on the far side of the base station pointing at the the headphones to...
Hello again re. the Sennheiser RS 220 wireless headphones.   First some relatively minor dissatisfactions, then continued goodness:    I'm actually kind of coming to despise my RS 220 headphones ever so slightly because of fit and comfort issues. The headband has two rectangular pads of foam covered by a leather-like plastic. I can't get the headband to rest anywhere other than almost entirely on the leading edge of the pads (there's a slight gap between my head...

betavince,   Zone 2 does output analog AirPlay / HMG, but without the ability to control volume or listening modes. It looks like this may be your only option with the Pioneer VSX-1021-K receiver. Please disregard what I suggested might be possible with the other analog outputs on your machine.   I did have to switch the HOME MENU / System Setup / Input Setup Input Skip to OFF for H.M.G. to make it available with the INPUT SELECT buttons on the remote, and to...
betavince,   The RS 220 comes with a 3.5mm to 2) RCA jack adapter. However, instead of the headphone jack in the front of the receiver, I'm suggesting you might be able to use one of the three pairs of RCA analog output jacks on the back panel of your receiver. Please see my previous post for more details.   I'm working on using a preamp analog out (which, again, you ain't got) for my (active/powered) studio monitor speakers, plus the zone 2 analog out for the RS...
Betavince: re. Pioneer AirPlay receivers, so far I have been able to use the digital optical audio output on my VSX-1121-K to listen to tracks off a USB drive plugged into the front of the receiver, but I haven't been able to get this to work with AirPlay. Your VSX-1021-K does not appear to have an optical out. I am currently using the analog output (FRONT RCA plugs - I am going to try Zone 2. You have DVR/BDR, CD-R/TAPE and ZONE 2 outputs) of the receiver into the RS...
RS 220 received this morning. Thanks for the tip on SoundEarphones.com, Jeff. $1.99 for overnight delivery. Preliminary non-audiophile report: sounds damn good to me. My source setup is not dialed in yet, but I have played a variety of music file formats, resolutions and styles of music. 96/24 wav from iTracks (2L classical), 48/16 flac from HDtracks, 320kbps MP3 from MOG. I am indeed hearing remarkable things. Mind, I can't compare these to any wired high end headphones...
I had these in a shopping cart at Best Buy last month, and had to go to a holiday dinner, and they were gone when I got back to the computer. I went ahead and ordered a pair of RS 220s from SoundEarphones just now. I just couldn't wait. I'll probably be kicking myself tomorrow when they're $150 cheaper again, but then again, maybe I'll get them quick and be EXTREMELY HAPPY! Even if they are 48K limited I'm using AirPlay with a Macbook Air mostly with MOG and a Pioneer...
