It is the nature of headphones in general. The LCD3's deviance from unit to unit is typical of headphones from 200 to 2000 dollars.

The l-cush pads are thicker and firmer than HD414 pads. The HD414 are taller than the l-cush pads but feel very similar to g-cush pads material-wise. I prefered the HD414 pads to l-cush, but l-cush was still nice.

I *definitely* found the 325 harsh. Sibilance out the wazoo. MS2i is a better option at the 300 dollar price point, and the 225 is probably a better value and still a hugely worthwhile improvement over the 80i's.

I plan on recabling my SR-325is myself, later, and replacing the grills. Woo.
