I ordered mine on a Tuesday about a month ago, I didn't get any tracking information till Sunday, which didn't start updating till the following Monday, then arrived to California and my home on Thursday.  Hmm. usually they're pretty good at responding to emails, I emailed Saturday night, and received a response Sunday Morning. Since I ordered via Amazon I wanted to confirm that they were shipping me the 120V version.
I'm about to take the plunge and buy the D5000.  I had the chance to sample the D7000 and it was absolutely amazing (Beyer Dynamic DT990/600 is going back)   The DT990's drove me insane, coming from the Q701 I wanted bass.  I got bass, but sadly horrible uncontrolled highs.   I really wanted to buy the D7000 but for the improvements I have been reading, it just doesn't warrant that price increase.   D5000 $476 Fulfilled by Amazon D7000 $799 or $999...
Yesterday I went to my friends house to test out his various headphones, and he wanted to test my M-Stage.  Every headphone we threw at it worked amazingly.  I got to test drive the D7000 It was nothing short of an unstoppable force of excellence.  Now the specs for the M-Stage says output impedance is 5ohms, and using the rule of eights, on paper it should not be the most ideal match.  But from what I heard, the D7000 was amazing. I kept going back to that headphone,...
I have the Q701 and the EF2A, I can tell you that they work but just not to the Q701's fullest potential.  The EF2A just doesn't put out enough power for the headphones.  I ended up buying a Matrix M-Stage, the bass extension grew dramatically, still didn't over power, but it was much more obvious.  The soundstage grew, became more dynamic, and the highs became clearer.  The extension was there even at really low volumes.  I did notice a night and day difference between...
Matrix M-Stage vs Hifiman EF2A: AKG Q701 test subject   I received my M-Stage about 3 weeks ago.  I've had some time to play around with it.  Results: This is a beautiful piece of construction, with amazing sound.   Currently I have it paired with my AKG Q701, before I was running the Hifiman EF2A.  A quick comparison: the EF2A is a great little device (for those of you that enjoy the tube sound).   Music was stellar coming through the Q701, flat, controlled...
US/California   Mostly I use amazon for all my headgear purchases.  Although I bought my Matrix M-Stage amp from Tam Audio (through their Amazon Store) but you can buy directly from the site (www.tamaudio.com), it ships directly from China.  You will get really good service.
Waiting for mine to arrive, flying across the Pacific at the moment.  I ordered through Amazon since I had a few gift cards to spend.   Since I am in the US, I was concerned whether they would include the proper power supply 110-120V compared to 220-240V (Tam Audio will let you choose).  There was no option to choose, the Amazon store description stated (110-120V or 220-240V).  So I sent a message and received a reply in 2-3 hours, saying they will include the 110-120V...
Thanks for the response!   Looks like I'm sold on the DT990. Seeing as how I use the AKG for movies and TV at the moment. It should also help with all that Reggae and pop I started listening to.   When you mention the voices are heavier, is this in regards to the 990 or the 770?  For example: When I listen to Leonard Cohen - First We Take Manhattan, my Sony MDR-7506 add a wonderful weight to his voice, which seems to disappear with the Q701.  I feel spoiled with...
This is interesting to read, Thank You.  I have been using the Q701 for a couple of months now.  I am absolutely loving the sound stage, and it has renewed my interest in classical music.  Although I feel some of my music is suffering, mostly my rock, pop, (some bass heavy music).  I've been looking at the DT 990 600 ohm as a solution, I do have a Matrix M-Stage on the way.   Is there any advice you can give regarding the DT 990, would it make a good compliment to my...
So about 3 months ago I took the plunge and bought the Hifiman Ef2A to power my new AKG Q701.  I've been really really happy with the EF2A, and the headphones for that matter.  Before my go to headphones were the Sony MDR-7506.  The AKG was a significant step up, and the EF2A made the headphones sound better than say using an iPod (or my $100 Insignia receiver).  Over time I've noticed some issues with the AKG, there is less bass compared to the 7506.  Granted I am...
