Not new gear... just thought i might upload a new pic of my se535
I also considered taking the CLAS/RX2 path before purchasing the P1. I havent't auditioned an RX2 yet, but i've A-B'ed the CLAS (with d-0 as amp) and the P1 - when I expected that I would easily like one setup more than the other, boy was I wrong. It was a very tough choice and the hours of A-B-ing the two dacs didn't help either (thanks to the guys at jaben jakarta for allowing me to test the two for hours, not to mention the dozens of times connecting my ipod from CLAS...
Would love to audition one... except I don't know where and when... hehe..   btw, reminds me of this, though:   http://www.fiio.com.cn/product/index.aspx?ID=37&MenuID=020301
The P1 does have an excellent amp section, at least when driving my iem. I really have nothing against the amp section, and compared to the d-0, is far superior - and, together with the dac section, provides a more than enjoyable listening experience. It's just that these last couple of days I've been going back to my old dance/trance/electronic/r&b albums and just for the heck of it, tried to put the d-0 into the rig. To my surprise, the little amp which I thought I...
Decided to bring the d-zero into the party... Still using generic mini-to-mini from p1 to d-0, though...
Btw, you might be interested to read this, if you haven't already...
I also kept referring to that link (http://macintoshhowto.com/itunes/which-ipod-has-the-best-audio-quality.html) before deciding on what dap best suits my needs, and recently decided that I should just go ahead with an ipod classic despite what the article says.   I haven't tried the 5.5 g ipod, but to my ears, the 2009 classic offered quite a reasonable SQ. Not the best, but still enjoyable. But then again, I was already planning to add a dac (fostex hp-p1) so SQ...
Oh ok... I see. Thanks a bunch, dude :)   Btw, I'll probably be asking several other questions in the future as I am considerably new in the portable audio world... hehehe
Sorry to bother you guys again...   Just came across a rather confusing info that "Only iPod/iPhone etc with iOS 4.35 and after are supported" on the fostex hp-p1 (http://www.moon-audio.com/fostex-hp-p1-headphone-amp-dac.html). From my experience so far - as well as according to the hp-p1 manual, it is compatible with ipod classic, amongs several others. Now, after hooking my classic to itunes, it says that my software version is 2.04, which based on the info...
Hmm... perhaps it was placebo effect, then... haha   Btw, anyone know if a burn in is needed for the HP-P1, and what would be an ideal ammount of time. So far I've just been listening to it without burning it it, although the guy who i bought it from might have used it for 20 hours...   Thanks in advance :)
