When it comes to pure sound quality (accuracy, details, sound neutrality, frequency range) and suitabilty for jazz, classic and some folk, independent rock with a tendency to acoustic instruments, what would be the better device for my ears?
I would like to plug the headphones directly to that dock
I will not use it on the go at all, how is the Cambridge Audio id100? If my main priority is audio quality, would you still suggest the ND-S1 as first choice?   Also the ND-S1 doesn't seem to have an analog output where I can plug my headphones directly, is that correct? If not what alternatives do I have?
Is the Cambridge Audio id100 iPod Dock any good? How is the quality of the integrated DAC? Would it be feasible to plug my Sennheiser HD 25 and Beyerdynamic DT880 600 Ohm to it (I guess via the XLR out using an adapter) and have a great sound experience? Do you know of any decent review that checks the audio quality?
I would like to integrate my iPod Touch 4G into my HIFI system but do not want to send the music though the iPod's DAC. I am mainly listening to music through headphones (Sennheiser HD25, Beyerdynamic DT880 600 Ohm) plugged directly to the CD player (currently without dedicated headphone amplifier). I think I'd like some sort of docking station with its own high quality DAC where I can plug my headphones and later the dedicated headphone amp (possible with its own DAC...
What would be a good classic rack CD player with a good high quality direct headphone output (good DAC etc.)? One that could maybe make a headphone amplifier obsolote? I'd also like to plug both my low Ohm Sennheiser HD 25 and the 600Ohm Beyerdynamic DT880 to it. Does that make sense?
Thanks, that helped a lot. Now let's make it concrete: How would the Beyerdynamic DT 880, 32Ohm (so I can also use it with an iPod, I was told the DT 880 are a good bang for the buck) compare to the Westone 4 or to the Sennheise IE8 in terms of sound quality and sound neutrality?
For quite some time I have been using the Sennheiser HD-25 II as my only headphones both on my couch at home (plugged to an iPod Touch 4G or to an old but good east german amplifier) and (less frequently) while I am on the go (iPod Touch too). I mainly listen to a full album from start to finish (classic, jazz and some pop/rock). I tend to like an  exact sound pattern.   I am starting to long for something different for my ears that first and foremost deliver a...
