looks like you have almost decided :) I can not comment on the Ultrasones as I have never even seen them. All I can tell about Denons is a) uber comfortable b) exceptional bass c) great detail d) dont get D2000 e) plan on amping them if you decide to get em d) sucks that you dont have a possibility to audition them
it    hey!   now that's interesting. D2k and D5k are, indeed, the same except the wooden cups on D5000 and also a different cable. I myself own them, and even though I was really new to Hi-fi when I bought them, I have noticed  an issue with D2k's when I was auditioning them. Sorry but I couldnt live with it. I consider myself a basshead and we all know that Denons are not exactly shy in this region, but the bass on D2k is late. Listening to some tracks I got a feeling...
I'm using D5k's together with Asgard and the cans sound more alive, compared to the amp that I was using before - ProJect Head Box II. The current setup still includes Pro-Ject USB  Box DAC.   Cant compare to other AMPs that you've listed, but if to compare with Pro-ject, the Asgard revealed many details in the recordings that I have not heard before. Also partially fixed the sibilance issue! Highs no longer get out of control. It still rolls off at times, but now I...
hey!   welcome the the right place :)   my very first suggestion for you is to take a few thoughts towards the quality of  the music you're playing on your headphones. 192 is bad enough but 160 is.. it is a sin. ESPECIALLY if you're planning on getting your hand on the d7000's. The difference between 192/320/FLAC is quite significant already, and better headphones will bring out the worst out of strongly compressed mp3.   next.   are you working very...

Hey crowd,   in need of some advice.   I bought the Denon ah-d5000 few months ago, together with a combo of Pro-ject USB-BOX dac and a Pro-ject Head Box II amp. That's what I'm using right now.   I auditioned a couple of other AMP's when purchasing the whole rig (took me almost 3 full days), but ultimately opted for the Pro-ject. And yes I bought it knowing, that it's going to be the first thing to improve.   So the time has came! I have read dozens of...
Hey there. I was postponing my registration a bit since I've only purchased my first head-fi gear two days ago, but stumbled upon this thread. Somehow. So early registration it is.    I think I can contribute my two cents right here.   I had an opportunity to trial few models when choosing headphones. Did three 3-4 hour dedicated listening sessions in the shop before making the choice. God it was exhausting. My impressions for the models I've tried, concerning...
