Mine are also supposedly semi-open, I would expect the same noise leak levels from the 990s   And I would expect the 770s to be similar to most closed back headphones, less sound leak and less idea of what's going on around you.    I think I'm looking for something that's just physically impossible with a microphone on the headphones recording what one would normally hear and playing it back through the headphones. Maybe I need to build a prototype, I'm sure someone...
Hello,   I don't expect anyone to be too interested in helping me in my search, but you never know.   I'm looking for a pair of headphones   I want to be able to hear what's going on around me at a decent level (My DT880s are great for this.) I want other people to not be able to hear what I'm listening to unless it's at a particularly high volume (My DT880s are crap at this)   That is my only real requirement for these headphones. I'm even happy for the sound to...
I'm after one of these. [[SPOILER]]  I really want this back now though, any ideas where to source one? Or maybe someone has one they're not too bothered about, I may have something to swap for it?
Thanks.   I've decided to go for the D1 now,  just about to place the order.     The E17 has a SPDIF input on the top of it. Someone has told me that this input is available and works whilst docked with E09K. So I wont be using a USB connection at all.   PC -----(PCI)----> Xonar D1 ----(SPDIF)----> E17 ----(Dock mechanism)----> E09K -----> Headphones   If the SPDIF to the E17 ends up not working, I will just switch to using the sound card when I'm...
Thanks for the summary STV014, cleared up allot.   Yes, Angel. The plan is to have the card plugged into the E17 constantly, for the sole purpose of having dolby headphone running through my system, and the software that goes with the card has sweetend the deal for me aswell. I also like the idea of having software with a decent equalizer.     So it looks like I have a choice between being able to accept a 5.1 or a 7.1 signal. And then wheather I want to use a...
Hello.   I'm about to buy one of the asus Xonar sound cards.   For my purposes all it will do is process a digital audio signal. It needs to output this  through SPDIF to my E17.     After almost of month of researching into these sound cards I don't really know what their differences are. I'll link you to a few of them, maybe you can tell me what their recomended uses are, and what benefits you get for venturing higher up the price range.     I see...
Hello.   I'm trying to buy an optical audio cable to carry a digital audio signal from my up-coming sound card to my external DAC.   I am a little unsure as to wheather I am looking at the correct cables, however I think I must be. When I look at the cable end, and then look at the hole it has to fit into, I am a little doubtful.   Here is the cable I am currently looking...
Wow, thanks pkgman   that's exactly what I needed to hear. I was assuming there was a solution similar to this.   I'll keep your post for reference for when I actually receive my FiiO bundle and sound card. I will add an optical SPDIF cable to my order.   I live in Africa and getting stuff imported out here is always a mission, so it's great to have the assurance that what I'm ordering will actually work.   I'll be adding a sound card and an optical cable...
Okay, so I realized I don't really understand S/PDIF.   You get this one, this is the one I was comfortable with, I've seen it on many of my things in the past and never really knew what it was until recently.       Then, you get this one.   Is the 1st one perhaps the standard output port, and the 2nd one the standard input port?       EDIT: so I just looked at my current sound card and I see it has a SPDIF port (presumably output) and it...
Is that S/PDIF input available while it is docked with the E09K though?   How would it be unnecessary? what is the other option, I am prepared to base my sound card purchase around that.
