One of the new (or new-ish) Walkmans would be ideal.  There has been the ZX-1 for a bit, and the upcoming NWZ-A17 (which is on my radar). But also any Apple device (iPhone/iPod/iPad) will work...
I have a feeling if I want this, I'll have to visit Price Japan..... ...and I do.
Right, Sennheiser too... But something about the PHA-3 and Z7 just seems so "both sets of engineers were in a room together"  Kind of like the Orpheus, but on a budget....lol
Not bashing your setup, but the Z7 and PHA-3 looks like they were engineered to have synergy together.  Of course one could say "Duh, both are Sony", but to be introduced together, with a Kimber Kable offered specifically to mate the 2 balanced?  Well, one can speculate... Its not often we see setups engineered together.  Only Stax and Oppo come to mind; sure there must be a couple more...

When is Australia's release date?  The "official" dates seem to elude me....
Sony Singapore's product page:   http://www.sony.com.sg/product/pha-3   Frequency range 10 Hz – 100 kHz (AUDIO IN input) , Distortion 0.01 % or less (1 kHz) Supported impedance 8 Ω - 600 Ω Maximum input 2 Vrms (AUDIO IN) Maximum output (when using the built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery) Balanced connection: Approx. 320 mW + 320 mW (32 Ω, 1 % distortion), Normal connection: Approx. 100 mW + 100 mW (32 Ω, 1 %...
128 gig iPhone yes, 128 gig iPod Touch no.....
I would feel much better pre-ordering the Z7 if I could hear some more comments from Jude.  I hope he's not obligated to save comments for a future date.  Which would seem odd considering the product has been officially announced....
