I love the comfort and bass of my DT 990-600s, however their bright treble and recessed midrange aren't optimal for every genre or recording. I have the FiiO e7/e9 combo to power them. I want to buy new cans that complement their sound. I'd love suggestions for headphones that are very comfortable with similar or better lows, more midrange, and tamer highs. Headphones I've heard: I tried the HD 800 briefly in a Tokyo store, yet all I remember is their superb comfort, but...
Can anyone recommend headphones under $800 that are different than DT 990-600s? I'm looking for something that is very comfortable, with great bass and especially midrange, and smooth highs. In other words, they can't have the steep V-shape.   Currently I only have the HE-400s or 500s in my sight.
I finally took the plunge and ordered a pair of DT 990-600s. So far, they sound really good to me. However, I'm concerned about the fit. The left side cannot seem to stay 'locked' on one of the dots denoting length. If I wiggle the left earpiece, it falls, losing the length adjusted for my head. With the DT 990s, if I tap the left earpiece wit my finger, it 'falls' down until it's 5 dots in length. My M50s in contrast don't move up and down as easily. Is this something I...
No, I like the feeling of open cans. Months ago, I asked for headphones that combined the soundstage, treble, and comfort of the AD700s with the bass of the M50s, and I was told the Beyer DT 990 (600) were my best bet.I'm worried what use the M50s will be when I buy the DT 990s. The only advantage the closed M50s have over the DT 990s is the isolation, but I have IEMs for that niche. I guess I'll wait and see if the two headphones are really that similar in sound...
Is it redundant owning a pair of M50s and Beyer DT 990s (600)? I have IEMS for portable listening (and isolation) so I'm wondering whether to get rid of of the M50s for at-home listening before purchasing the DT 990s. The M50s are closed, with elevated bass and treble and relatively recessed mids. The DT 990s have a similar sound signature apparently except they're open cans.
Although I loved the different u-shaped sound signature of the M50s vs my old HD 280s which were too neutral and boring, my ears just can't stand wearing them or the HD 280s longer than an hour without becoming very warm. In addition, the clamping force gives me headaches as well despite how much I stretch the headband. Since I bought the AD700s, I've relegated the M50s for bass-heavy genres, and I use the 700s for everything else. I never realized how important comfort...
What full-size headphones besides the DT 990 600 ohms combine the comfortability and immense soundstage of the AD700 with the bass impact of the M50s?   I thought the DT 880s, AD900s, or DT770s would fit the bill, but after reading so many threads it seems nothing besides the Beyer DT 990-600s are what I’m looking for.     I will be using the FiiO E7/E9 combo to power the cans. I’m debating whether to just keep my M50s for bass heavy music like electronica and...
