I have the PSB. I find them a bit trebly. I've had some cable issues. For point of reference, I tend to like more bass-heavy headphones (Senn IE8 were some of my favorite portables ever - lost them). *But* I have the Beyer T90 right now for home listening and they're supposed to be notoriously treble-heavy. I find them awesome. I got them on eBay for about 60$ more than PSB are on Amazon, and I'd say they sound like 5x better. The PSB are good - I like them. But they...
I was also very underwhelmed by the HD-650. I had them about 2 or 3 years ago. I was driving them off an Icon-2 DAC/amp. I sold them and went on a bit of a journey through different headphones (Denon, Grado, other Senns). I've finally settled on the Beyer T90 - a very different sounding headphone. But, I really like it and most importantly, I think about it this way: The HD650 were released over a decade ago. They were (and I suppose technically still are) great...
The Wirecutter selected the Kransen Urbanears as a bass-heavy pick in a recent article:   "They feel substantial and built to last. And they’re available in 10 colors. Beauty aside, the bass is very forward, so only bass lovers need apply. Brent liked them, saying that if he were to spend his own money, these are likely the ones he’d buy for himself. Geoff and John agreed with Brent on the design, but neither really loved the sound as much as their other picks. And while...
Thanks for resurrecting this thread! I've subsequently moved my A5 into the kitchen, where I know work, and there is no humming. I think it's safe to say that the power lines in my apartment are all sorts of old and messed up - like all of its wiring.   The A5 are truly an amazing product.   I'd recommend them 100% (and have, actually, to a few people who bought them sound unheard) to anyone who wants inexpensive, good-sounding, loud speakers.
Welp, I just did some research and ended up getting the Shure 215LEs on a presidents day sale at earphone connection. Hopefully these work out well, and they're cheap enough to be a backup pair once I have some more cash on hand. Thanks!
The title says it all.    I was out on Saturday night for just a few drinks. Got to the bar and jammed my earphones into my jacket pocket. They either fell out, or the little toddler that was messing around with my gloves and hat also fished my earphones out of my pocket, and now I wish I had checked for them when we left. (Yes... there are toddlers at the bar we go to for some reason.)   So, I haven't really looked into headphones for a few years. I loved the...
Hey folks - I've been away from Head-Fi for some time. I just logged back on, and I've been using the forum a bunch today and the subtle redesign is awesome. Well, except for one thing. The red flag on the Galleries link is really distracting — really poor design, I think. It would be great to indicate it, but it needs to go away once you've noticed it. A red label seems to me like the universal UI sign for new message or an indication that you need to take an action. In...
Hah, well. I'm one of the people (I think there are a few of us) who thinks the HD650s look good and are pretty durable, and these look like those but with some HD800 DNA. Seems like a pretty great combination to me.
From what you heard about the album, or of the album? I'm Gay is all right. I actually wrote somethign about it (http://fuse.tv/music/columns/listen-closely/7511-1.html). But the song I linked to is not on that album. Lil B's kind of annoying, and he releases a lot of music that's hard to sift through for the good stuff. It's probably not worth doing.     How come you didn't read what I wrote?
I actually just basically traded my HD650 for the D2000. I was amping the Senns with a NuForce Icon-2, and I thought that it was fine, no big. Good soundstage, good-sounding. Not a bad headphone, but I sort of suspected I didn't have a good enough amp for them, since they sounded exactly the same being driven by my MacBook Air and iPhone. Now that I have the Denons, I can really tell (ironically?) that the HD650s must be really good. The D2000 sound incredible,...
