James I have been listening to Classical for about a decade, and a very good source for vinyl is believe it or not Goodwill stores.  I have bought 30-40 records at a time for 50 cents a piece.  At least 3/4 of them are very playable, and I do screen them for defects, before I buy them.  Most people who collected classical recordings on vinyl took rather good care of their collection, so if the in-laws didn't use them for a frisbee, or allowed the grand-kids to play with...
Yes and no.  I liked lots of music from the late 60's and early 70's at the time, and didn't hardly listen to classical at all.   I still like some of the music teenage years, (I'm 55 now) but I listen to lots of classical these days.    Today,  I can go from Steely Dan to Leonard Bernstein to Floyd to Pearl Jam to Laura St John to Hayes Carll, to whatever.    Back in the day the leaps into and out of classical wouldn't have happened.    I can't say my musical tastes...
The BAT VK-5se  is a tubed cd player.
I also have the Cambridge audio 740C and 840C, Rega Apollo (used in a basement rig), and had a Bat VK-5dse,   The perfect wave beat all of them, is marginally better than a Rega DAC which I own, and use in a second bedroom system and sold an Anedio D1 dac which I really didn't prefer.   I prefer what I hear with the perfect wave set up over the others in my main rig, they have all been there at one time or the other.   A friend has the BAT cd player now, he...

A second site to read and think about when considering dipping into vinyl.   http://www.high-endaudio.com/   I have read most of his site, and learned quite a bit,  his vinyl sections for reference components turntable, tonearm and cartridge helped me work out what I might want.   http://www.high-endaudio.com/rec.html   I especially liked the part about how "professional journal reviews" happen, get written and how much acrimony happens when the curtain...
I searched Audiogon, and found one.   Right now there is a  Nottingham Spacedeck with Space Arm on Audiogon from a dealer in Fla.    I cannot get the link to post since the new "upgraded" Agon website, but if you go to their homepage   http://www.audiogon.com     and search for "Nottingham" it will come up along with a Dias, which is about twice the cost.    I am very pleased with mine.
I went with a Nottingham Spacedeck with the Space Ace tone arm for my vinyl rig, works wonders with the Cavalli LF and LCD-2.2s with a seperate phono stage of course.  Relistening to a lot of my older vinyl, and am quite surprised how good they sound after a good LP cleaning, with  Ortofon Kontrapunkt a MC cartridge.  Completes my HF system with the PS Audio Perfect Wave combo.  I use both sources in my main speaker rig also.   It looks different and has an...
