re the gapless ...   I'm sure it's been mentioned many times, but after upgrading to 1.2.8 I was experiencing a number of quirks, including some issues with gapless new tracks not starting etc.  As soon as I did a factory reset and put my tracks back on again, my problems all seemed to magically go away.   Might be worth a try ...
Mine arrived this morning.  I ordered through mp4nation early last week so pretty nice turn around.  I'm assuming it's a batch 4.  Upgraded to 1.2   There is a playlist option but haven't figured out how to use it yet.  Still need to get all the way through the thread.   So far with about 6 hours of playtime on it, I'm still mixed on the audio quality, although it does seem to be improving / growing on me.    I'm driving primarily a set of UM Miracles running 16/44...
I've had these for about 4.5 years now.  Awesome portable headphones!  They are in great shape. Light cosmetic scuffs / scratches on the cups. I always used the included Audio-Technica travel case whenever I took them with me and kept them in the travel bag inside that.   About 3.5 years ago I picked up a set of T1s for home use, and a set of UM Miracles as my main at work / portable setup.  The ESW10s just don't see much use anymore in that company, so it's time for...
I just picked up a mini yesterday. For reference I have access to most major mobile phones through work my best portable all in one to date was a nexus s with voodoo sound. I also have a d10 cobra. I have an original iPad 1. With almost no listening time the iPad mini definitely seems well above the original in sound quality detail and soundstage on my iems. I was however slightly disappointed with the way it drove my um miracles at first listen. Might lend credence to...
Out of curiosity what is the impedance of these? My set is not doing well at all with my desktop main headphone amp but sounds considerably better directly from my android htc one x. I have used that amp to drive other iems including a klipsch x10 and the a5i is the first first set that sounds better on the phone and it's by a wide margin
I purchased a pair to try. Currently letting them burn in.
Ok.  More updates.   I spent several emails with Jon from the AudioInsider.     First off, I'd have to say his support has been awesome, great buying experience.  One of the things he pointed out was that the Swans work much better with a solid mount and they totally do not recommend something like the Auralex pads underneath it.  So, by following some of his pointers, I have put the Swans on the desk directly without the pads, and played around with placement a...
They are a very big upgrade on the A3X.  On the other hand, at $650 for a pair of A3x and $1000 for a pair of A5X I would hope they are!  Also, you can definitely tell they are from a similar family.  The sound character is similar. Just cleaner, and better extended on the A5X.
I'm afraid my external DAC that I use is what I have on hand, and have owned for a long time.   (Purchased new in about 1997 or so)  It's a Parasound DAC 2000.  Personally, I think if you can find one used on ebay / craigslist they are a steal for what they are currently going for used.  It is a very clean and pretty neutral DAC, which I think suits the purpose of the Adams pretty well.      However, I haven't given it a comparison head to head with any of the more recent...
As I said, I'm definitely leaning towards the A5X, although the detail level difference with the Swans isn't as much as you might suspect.  The presentation difference has the A5X being a fair bit brighter than the Swans which makes the A5X seem hyper detailed, however when you listen closer to the swans there is still a lot of  detail there.  Personally, I think the difference comes down to the amplification, not so much the speakers themselves.     This is also where I...
