    Dear sbulack,

I appriciate your insighful comment and would be thankful if you would take one minute for advice: I am trying to decide which mp3 player/amp I should get for my se530s. I would love to have no hisss - thats why I ordered sony s639 - but I am considering recalling/cancelling to get ann amp3 instead. I have spend lots od time reading through various threads but did not find a review of amp3 and se530s. you have both and lots of experience with other equipment too - Id be very thankfull for any advice/review of the combo! thaks a lot! (ps: I only care for sq - looks/size/userfriendliness budet max 200 usd are no issues - but I have little tolerance for hiss.

    thank for your help! Nonno

    Hi sbulack.
I use to lisent only classical music ( and sometimes rock). I would like to have your opinion about flat and jumbo because the originals (bowls) sounds a bit bass. I have flat by I didn´t have hear enought them.
    Thanks you so much

Given the funds going into the gear feeding the HD650 (a good investment for phones as competent as the HD650), I recommend that you make sure that all of that audio goodness actually reaches the phones with an after-market cable for the HD650. I've bought and used (for at least a year each) the Cardas, the SAA Equinox HD650 and the ALO Sennheiser cable (18 AWG Jena Labs Ultra Cryo Wire). Of those three, I hear the most from the audio chain with the ALO Sennheiser cable, then the SAA Equinox, then the Cardas and last and least the stock HD650 cable. Seeing that, from a DA100 and Caliente, the audio goods are going to be there is boatloads, it seems a shame to choke so much of it off before it reaches the phones. Feel quite free to not follow this recommendation. For the price and improvement, it's a very cost-effective system improvement - after making sure that the upstream gear is actually delivering sufficiently good audio to make it worthwhile.

In trance, I listen to Paul Oakenfold (Bunkka, A Lively Mind, A Voyage Into Trance), ATB, and a duo from the old (pre-2002) mp3.com called Trance[]Control. The authority of the massive sounds as well as the wonderful spatial presentation of the sound (as vast and enveloping as the sound is massive) all contribute to a terrifically transporting Trance experience. Couple that with the spookily-real portrayal of human voice - and Trance is quite a trip with the HD650 and Caliente.

Thanks, actually I listen to every genre but I wanted to make sure it was also good with trance, etc (they actually are with my Total Bithead so I can't wait for the Caliente and Stello DA100 combo)
