I think that the Decware Zen Head is a terrific headphone amp. Bass and soundstage are amazingly good. The bass is authoritative and fully present. The soundstage is wide and three dimensional. Excellent. Midrange and treble are very good. There is much to love about this amp. The crossfeed function works well (one can defeat it with a trip into the interior of the unit) and it makes the music sound more natural (no more of that hollow head feeling). The only drawback that I see regarding portability is that it is fairly large. I don't mind the size given the high quality of the amp (and it is rather robust being built like a tank). The sonic presentation reminds me of tube amps (and I'm a big fan of the vacuum tube). That works well with my Grado 325i. With my AKG 271s and Sennheiser HD-595, the performance is also top notch. I like the Zen Head and I'm glad that I purchased it.
It has performed well on all types of music and given my eclectic tastes, I mean everytihing that I can throw at it including world music, opera, classical, country, rock, pop, and hip hop.

    Cheers!
