However it totally died - electrostatic and dynamic - a month ago. Several more componants in the PS died and when I tried replacing them the soldering pads on the circuit board came off because of the heat damage. So I stopped.

Luckily the guy at Bolder Audio said he would attempt to fix it in October, including fixing the design flaws - he is working on many SP amps now, including some ES-1's.

But as much as I love the sound of both the electrostatic and dynamic outputs, I doubt I would have bought this amp if I knew what i was in for.

    Damn you Mikhail!

When I got it, it only sounded good with only a certain set of tube combinations and it took hours to warm up enough to sound good. And it did sound very good. I had correspondence with Mikhail to figure out what was wrong and he suggested me to send it in. I'm not that dumb.

After a few months the electrostatic output became unlistenable. I finally opened the power supply and saw that one of the wires from the transformer was touching a diode and melted the insulation and shorted. There was heat marks around some of the componants so I measure them. There were five dead diodes, so I replaced them myself. The amp sounded perfect now. Now all sorts of tube combinations worked fine and the headphones became listenable fairly quickly. And it sounds increadable.
