Santa Cruz, CA	My interests these days are largely musical or academic, with one notable exception. I'm a massive fan of bouldering (rock climbing with no ropes, just a pad on the ground and some people to help you land on that pad) and currently climb V3-5, depending on the style of the problem. Academically, I am interested in philosophy of religion, philosophy of science, probabilist epistemology, non-chomskyan syntax, model theory, philosophical and mathematical logic, set theory, probability, subjectivism in probability, bayesianism, linguistic semantics. The two questions that I am most interested in, academically, are "What is the most fundamental character of our existence?" and "How is it that we 'do things with words'?" My answer to the first question is broadly Christian, but I find myself definitively in the camp of modern empiricists like Bas C. vanFraassen in expressing a broad-based rejection of the quest for "explanation" that many find anti-religious. The reconciliation of these two views is important to me. As to the second, HPSG seems about right.	Student
