I don’t know how long I have been in this cold and dark and rain. I walk a flat grid of streets, which recede into the four directions, but direction does not matter here. Sidewalks line the streets, but only the poles of dim streetlights are there. Buildings stand behind the sidewalks, and are all alike, six stories high, made of dark brick, and shut tight.
