I read your message and obviously we are on the same page. I understand the relationship between a famous painter and someone who's willng to wait untill the artist decide that his creation is completed before he can deliver it. This scenario could be applied when we are talking about truly esoteric audio gear. But is this realy the case when we consider products like Singlepower or (the one I realy hate even if I have some right beside me thanks to the used market) LaRocco Audio? Surely not.
Artistic behavior pushed to the limit? Not even close. All I see is probably a classic exemple of overbooking ( and an astonishing bad management ) feeded by (here your guess is as good as mine) personal demons.
To add to the mixture is the risky business side of sending a lot $ to someone we think we know well. Yes these builders are nice guys but in the end nice guys dont put their customers in that unfortunate position where the feel the need to '' come out of the closet'' on a public forum if they want to ease their pain.
As you said, I have yet to see a product worthy of such buyer distress.
